Hidden Harms Lessons

Dive in and explore the chemicals found in everyday products polluting our rivers and lakes. Students hear from real scientists to learn how these contaminants enter our waters and how they cause problems for our fish and wildlife.  Together, we’ll find ways to keep these pollutants out of our waters.

Lessons have been adapted for virtual learning and are available in two different styles, Educator Led and a DIY format, to fit your classroom needs.

  • Educator Led Lesson

This lesson is geared towards live lessons in virtual classrooms. Milwaukee Riverkeeper's Educator will guide students through a presentation, where students can actively participate through PearDeck.

Contact Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s Program Manager, Leah Holloway at leah@milwaukeeriverkeeper.org, for more information or to schedule a lesson.

  • DIY Lesson

The DIY Lesson can be used by your class or group without a Milwaukee Riverkeeper staff member present, perfectly adapted for self-led learning. The DIY Lesson takes place within Kahoot, an interactive platform. Open the link, add your nickname and jump right in!

If you are an educator and have used (or plan to use) this lesson in your classroom, please let us know by contacting Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s Program Manager, Leah Holloway at leah@milwaukeeriverkeeper.org.
